Hello 2022 + NEW YEAR RESOLUTION
Learn-to-code is still our favorite topic. We'd like to help you become the first person in your family to code. The struggle is real. There's no role model in the family. Hope you find the greatest learn-programming community online! While you are at it. Let's pick up some blockchain skills. What's new for 2022? Make learn-programming (python), machine learning, or blockchain web3 (javascript) your new year resolution!
Talking about learn-to-code, Codecademy.com is acquired. This marks the end of an era. It is in talks to be acquired by Skillsoft for $525 Million. Well deserved. Codecademy.com serves millions of users and classrooms. Will this change codecademy.com? The website has streamlined curriculum to include APIs, machine learning, even technical interviews and react. It's not just a company we admire. Our founder was one of the first super users and advocated for codecademy.com to win tech awards. Maybe one day we will be able to change the lives of so many users. Fingers crossed.

OpenSea Job Post Analysis, Recruiting
We will analyze the job postings of a few web3 and blockchain companies such as NFT marketplace OpenSea. Our staff recently attended their recruiting event
The recruiting event took place in a virtual, invite-only, accepted applicant only, YC Tech Talks: Crypto, NFTs & AMA with Devin Finzer (Cofounder of OpenSea) on November 10, 2021 https://www.workatastartup.com/events/crypto-tech-talks-2021 via @ycombinator
Demil Dalal also gave a talk about coinbase recruiting. The coinbase portion of the talk was well organized.
Open sea hosted an exclusive, invite-only event with Y Combinator Work for Startup effort to recruit engineering talents. Is this perhaps a prep for the hinted IPO? https://decrypt.co/87701/opensea-ipo-criticism-crypto-ethereum-token
Let's learn about what kind of skills web3, blockchain, crypto companies and NFT markets recruit for.
OpenSea job post tagline on YC work for startup expo: OpenSea(W18) "The largest decentralized marketplace for NFTs." New York. Current team 8 people. Consumer -> content.
Up until recently there are only 8 people in the OpenSea core team, that's pretty small. The W18 label means that they are in the winter 2018 Y Combinator batch.
Other companies also participated in online forum posts and the live talk. To be eligible for the invite, you will have to apply ahead of time, submit detailed resume, past experiences, and be accepted. It was a lengthy process. You will be labeled with tags that clearly indicate if you are a YC connection, and actually fall into the blockchain category. Though our staff was accepted, she still couldn't get in and missed the first part of the talk. She asked for slides, and no one responded. There were one-on-one talk opportunities afterwards, even with the opensea recruiter, but the time and virtual space was filled with eager engineers, devs. It wasn't a great experience. The demand was simply too big, with many qualified engineers eager to make a connection. The coinbase portion of the talk was excellent. She enjoyed it very much.
There's no doubt OpenSea is the leader in NFT marketplace. If you have a chance definitely check them out. Coinbase is growing a ton, definitely check them out too.
YC holds Work for Startup expos often. If this is something you are interested in, there will be future opportunities.

Next newsletter topics on machine learning: math of gradient descent, detailed training loop walkthrough, linear algebra mini course. As you can see Machine Learning is a vast interdisciplinary field. People get PhDs in Machine Learning and AI. It's quite a journey. Fortunately, what we learn is quite applicable in web3. In 2022, we will show you how it is all connected and prepare you for the next iteration of the internet. Blockchains are public ledgers that act like transaction storing, decentralized databases. Tools we have been using for machine learning can be used to analyze cryptos such as Dogecoin. Data skills are always relevant and in-demand. Make machine learning your 2022 resolution. Make web3 your 2022 new year resolution.
